Wedding Planning

Minister / Celebrant: Arrangements can be made to have a minister or civil marriage celebrant perform the ceremony. It is possible to organise your own Catholic Priest, though regrettably this is something we are unable to arrange for you.

Australian law requires that all marriage papers are lodged no less than one month and one day prior to the wedding day. You will need the following - 1. Notice of intended Marriage Form - this will be forwarded to you once we have booked a Celebrant/Minister for you. 2. Original birth certificates 3. If divorced, notice of dissolution of that marriage is required.

Photography and Videography: Photography is a critical part of your day. Your wedding lasts one day, however your photos and video are records for generations to come. Please see our range of options which are detailed on our Photography Packages & Video Packages web pages.

Music: The wedding packages listed include use of the chapel CD sound system with the wedding coordinator operating it for you (CD supplied by you). Other options include a string duo/trio/quartet, harpist, flautist, or bagpipes to name a few.

Bridal Flowers: A wide range of fresh flowers are available for your wedding, from bridal bouquets, buttonholes & corsages, to reception table centrepieces. We have a document with images of standard bridal bouquets to help you choose the flowers you would like, or you can liaise with our florist directly for her expert ideas & advice.

Hairdresser & Makeup: Pamper yourself on your wedding day and have your hair and makeup done in the privacy of your hotel room. Our team of experienced hair & makeup artists can meet the needs of all bridal parties, and use only quality products - a mixture of MAC, Dior, Chanel, Napoleon and Cinema Secrets.

Trial hair and makeup appointments can also be conducted before your wedding day. Contact us for all bookings & further information.

Wedding Transport: Standard and stretch limousines are available, dressed with white ribbon. A Rolls Royce & a horse drawn carriage are also available.

Confetti: NO paper confetti or rice permitted. Please use fresh/dried flower petals (outside the church only). We can arrange for fresh rose petals to be used for a flower shower outside St Mary’s.

Post Ceremony Drinks: Treat your guests to a champagne & beer celebration on the lawn in front of St Mary's overlooking the Coral sea & Sugar Wharf, while you are having your photos taken. Port Douglas Weddings holds the liquor licence to serve alcohol at St Mary's and the surrounding gardens.

Wedding Cakes: We can put you in touch with our cake artist who can give you a personalised quote for your dream wedding cake.

Accommodation: Look at the accommodation page on our website, which will provide you with a range of properties that offer you a special wedding package rate for the bride & groom when you book through Port Douglas Weddings. Please contact us for a quotation.

Receptions: We can point you in the right direction for your reception celebrations, whether you’re looking at one of Port Douglas’ leading restaurants or in a tropical outdoor location.

Rehearsals: Rehearsals at St. Mary’s Church must be booked in advance, and are an additional cost. They can be held during business hours only (between 9am and 5pm).
